The fashion for perfume holders dates back to the Middle Ages. They were formerly called Pomanders or Pomme de senteur in French and were worn by the European wealthy classes from the 13th to the 17th century for aromatherapeutic purposes.
Our Florentine style perfume holder pendant, finely perforated and engraved by hand, has felt inside which must be soaked in your favorite perfume. Wearing it gives off its scent throughout the day.
