On 2 September 2020, the first of the Dolce & Gabbana fashion shows in Florence for Pitti Immagine took place in the wonderful location of the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio.
“The Renaissance and the Rebirth” was the first live fashion event of the post-Covid era, having the beautiful Monica Bellucci as godmother, who received the keys to the city from the Mayor of Florence durign the show.
For the event, Dolce & Gabbana selected the objects of some Florentine artisans, including Pestelli Creazioni, to be brought on the catwalk along with their Haute Couture creations.
After the visit of Domenico Dolce in our atelier, Pestelli Creazioni created exclusively for the show 3 bags, a previously unseen category in the silver works created by the historic Florentine workshop.
Tommaso Pestelli, owner of Pestelli Creazioni, commented to the newspaper La Repubblica:
“We are used to make rings, pins or small pieces of decoration. When Domenico Dolce came to our atelier lately, all his ideas and creativity stimulated us to get out of the box and test ourselves with something we hadn’t created before. So three bags were born, full of details and decorations”.
The exclusive creations have been – as always – strictly “fatto a mano” with coconuts, silver and various types of precious stones.
One of the bags is exhibited in the Cortile del Michelozzo of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. The exhibition, with some selected works of Florentine craftsmanship, will be open to the public until October 15, 2020.
